Origins of the
Launceston Branch.
The Genealogical Society of Tasmania was formed in Hobart in April
1980. Subsequently an open meeting of people interested in forming a
Launceston Branch of the Society was held at the Kings Meadows High
School on 4 November 1980, and the first Annual General Meeting of the
Launceston Branch was held on the 7 April 1981.
As from 1st April 2001,
the name of the Society was changed to Tasmanian Family History
Society Inc. Presently the membership of the Branch is approximately
250.

| MEMBERSHIP.
Membership of the
Tasmanian Family History Society Inc. is open to anyone
who is interested in tracing their Genealogy and Family
History.
All members receive copies of the Society's journal
'Tasmanian Ancestry' published quarterly in June, September,
December and March.
Members are entitled to free access to
all of the Society's Branch Libraries and have reciprocal rights
with many other libraries in other States.
